THE YEAR ENDS, THE TIME RUNS
Thanksgiving to God who keeps and moves us on through the seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months and years inching and heading us gradually into eternity.
Man by nature is given to counting almost everything that happens to him be they gain or loss, success or failure, promotion or demotion etc.
As every moment passes by so we will soon pass by. Therefore as we count the months and the years covering the seconds, minutes, hours, days and weeks. May we in the words of Psalm 90:12 submit wholly to the teaching to “number our days aright that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” For numbering our days tells us that the days of our allotment are finishing, we are growing older and expiring, and gaining a heart of wisdom that our departure from this world is near and the return to the creator may not be long, as such tuning our hearts to aligning with the council of heavenly elders is what a gained heart of wisdom details us to do. So as we take count of the months of the year 2020 through to the last one, May we come from the pedestal of wisdom so that our tie with the world we are surely departing is severed and the necessary hold on eternity be firmly taken.
As the years count and one end of year succeeds another and time runs out, are you numbering your days and are you gaining a heart of wisdom? Are you mindful of the end and longing for the endless, the transient and transcendent?
